Throwback Thursday: My Favorite Looks for My Blogiversary

October is my blogiversary!! I started my blog in 2010, and I’ve done a loootttt of outfits over the years. Some that I were super proud of, and some…uhhhhh…not so much. As I look back, it’s clear that 2014 was my biggest year on my blog…from the growth of my following to the development of my personal style. So in tribute to my best blog year, I decided to put together some of my favorite looks from 2014! (Stay tuned with my fave 2015 looks). Here are 14 of my favorite looks from 2014 (from oldest to newest):

Black & White

spring fashion trends

I thought about wearing some bright, Springy colors for my first post of May, but then I thought…”nah, who am I kidding?!” I’m the biggest advocate of black, and I want to show how you can wear it during any season!! (more…)

Thigh Highs

Happy November! I finally have an excuse to wear real fall fabrics here in Arizona even though it’s still a little warm (November is always an excuse to wear boots and order hot coffees from Starbucks). I incorporated so many fall/winter details in this look. Suede, leather, matte red lips, a sweater…can you tell I’m a little excited that it’s November?

Keeping Warm and Cozy with Old Navy

classic fashion winter outfit
I got this entire outfit (with exception of the shoes) from Old Navy for $60! It’s tough to look put-together while trying to stay warm, but there is a way to do it! Chunky sweaters like this one are extra warm, and a feminine wool pea coat like this adds the right touch to dress it up. I mixed the style up with the cargo skinnies, and finished it off with clean, simple pumps.Steal My Style:
Sweater: Old Navy $20
Pants: Old Navy $20
Jacket: Old Navy $20
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini $100 (similar)

Winter Green

classic winter fashion trend
I’m getting all my winter outfits out of my system as winter is super short in Arizona! Jewel tones are big this winter so I incorporated both emerald green and navy into this winter outfit. We all know that I love mixing different textures and prints together, so here I mixed tweed and plaid-both winter patterns!Steal My Style:
Pants: JC Penney $34
Cape: H&M (unavailable but here is the inspiration for it)
Shoes: Halogen $99
Gloves: Target $11

Welp, here is my classic black and gold again! I’ve been noticing that more fashion houses have been featuring the turtleneck more often, so I decided to accept that the turtleneck is back and incorporated it into this look. I paired it with this tight high-waisted midi pencil skirt to balance out the shortness and chunkiness of the turtleneck, and added the belt to give myself a waist. One thing about midi skirts-people think that they are unflattering on people because they go below the knee but not to the ankle…the truth is actually quite opposite, and if you pair it right can be one of the most flattering things you can wear. Back to the turtleneck…wear them with pencil skirts, A-line mini skirts, or skinny jeans/pants.

Things not to wear with your new turtleneck:

  • A boot-cut mom jean (let’s keep it as far removed from the 90’s as possible)
  • Shorts
  • Capris (we’re not supposed to be wearing these anyway-I wanted to list these just to confirm)
  • Trouser jeans/pants
  • Any type of skirt that is longer than a miniskirt, but not skin tight (i.e. knee-length A-line, maxi, etc.)

Anything else is a ‘go’!
