Wearing Jean with Jean

My biggest rule for wearing all jean is contrast. Make sure that is is apparent that the top and bottom are two different colors of jean. I also make it a point that the texture and weight of the fabrics should be different as well. My top in this outfit is soft and flowy, and the bottoms are thick and more rigid.

This look is entirely from Target with exception of the heels! I went on a little bit of a Target rampage the other day, and put so many head-to-toe looks together with only pieces from Target. They don’t carry these items online, so I have links to similar items below.

Preppy in Plaid

It’s still sunny in Arizona, so I haven’t broken out any of my wool coats yet (even though I am dying to!) The weather is weird right now; it’s warm in the sun but chilly in the shade…therefore layers are usually the best choice so that I can throw my jacket on when it gets colder.

NORDSTROM - Shop New Savvy for Winter

Cashmere and Leather

I love mixing different textures. I mixed a soft and sensual cashmere with hard and edgy leather. Both are warm and rich winter fabrics and complement each other beautifully. I did a ladylike nude pointed toe pump (in matte so it doesn’t clash with the leather) and a badass berry lip to play off of the ‘edgy-but-ladylike’ vibe.

Another Way to Wear the Leather Pencil Skirt

Here are some more fabulous pieces from JunkyTrunk that I styled together. This leather skirt was featured in my post previous, and here is another way to style it. I wore it in a preppier way before, and here it is with an edgy twist.

My Topshop Obsession: My Favorite Fall Trends for Less

I love Topshop because it allows you to get creative with your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Plus, they have tons of staples that you need like leather leggings, boyfriend jeans, blazers, sweaters, etc. Read how I would put some of my favorite items together to make some looks. Click on the links to get a visual!

1) Moto ‘Kevin’ Ripped Boyfriend Jeans $90. Pair with a cardigan, blazer, pullover sweater, and/or button-up and pointy pumps, chucks, or oxford flats. It gives an ‘effortlessly fashionable’ look.
2) Mixed Media A-Line Skirt $84. With thigh-high stockings, a button up with a blazer or cardigan, and black boots. I. Die.
3) Moto ‘Leigh’ Skinny Ankle Jeans $65. Because a good skinny jean for $65 is an obvious must-have.
4) ‘Bruised Floral’ Print Tube Skirt $56. This can be worn in an eclectic, sexy, or professional/conservative way depending on what you wear it with. With a crop top and short boots or strappy heels is my fave!
5) Moto ‘Leigh’ Coated Skinny Jeans $65. Because you need a pair of black coated skinnies for edgy reasons, and $65 can’t be beat.
6) Embossed Velvet Leggings $45. I love these with atunic, a men’s flannel, or a printed minidress with short boots.
7) ‘Blackwatch’ Checkered Wool Shorts. $68. With tights or thigh-high stockings, short boots, and a chunky knit sweater. Obsessed!
8) Spaghetti Strap Jumpsuit $120. Because every woman needs a jumpsuit in her closet for that time she is feeling super confident and sexy.

1) Check Print Scarf $45. To toughen up a feminine outfit.
2) Curb Chain Necklace $28. For a small statement in any type of outfit.
3) Hinged Hobo Bag $72. Because it’s $72 and a black bag will go a loooong way.
4) Thigh-High Tights $8. To wear with the outfits that I mentioned above.
5) ‘All Mine’ Boot $160. To wear with everything! Dress ’em up, dress ’em down.
6) Lipstick $16. Their new lipstick line is to die for and it’s so cheap!
7) Rolled Edge Infinity Scarf $36. We all need an infinity scarf in our lives.
8) Faux Leather Mini Evening Bag $72. Because it looks like the Celine trapeze without trying to imitate it.
9) Goldtone Bar Ankle Strap Pump $100. Duhhhhh! Wear these with skinnies, dresses and skirts, boyfriend jeans, cigarette leg trouser pants…the options are endless.

1)‘Airforce’ Bomber Jacket $110. Comes in black and navy too. Gotta have it for those casual chic days.
2) Faux Leather Panel Sweater Dress $130. You can dress this up with pumps and a statement necklace, or dress it down with tights and boots. Sooo cute.
3) ‘Mirabelle’ Faux Leather Biker Jacket $85. Because we all need a motorcycle jacket and this one is $85! Duh!
4) Fringe Body-Con Dress $80. We all need something crazy in our closets. Wear with short boots or pumps.
5) Slouchy Sweatshirt $36. Super cute with pumps and high waisted skirts or shorts, skinnies, boyfriend jeans, skinny trousers, etc.
6) Textured Long Sleeve Slub Top $36. Teal and jewel tones are in for the season and this is the perfect way to incorporate it! Wear with those black coated skinnies that I listed above.

Must-Haves Monday: Fall Essentials

This fall is all about military, leather, grudge, and edginess. Here are my absolute must-haves for fall. Pair any of these together for a super on-trend look!

1) This military jacket combines the military look and the edgy leather look. Wear it with leather leggings and booties or skinnies and tall boots to achieve the look.

2) Booties are a staple and look amazing with everything-jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts…seriously everything! You can accomplish any kind of look with ankle boots-grunge, classic, edgy, girly. They’re easier to dress up than tall boots, too. I wear ankle boots with skinnies or leggings (including leather leggings) and a big long oversized sweater, or a blazer or motorcycle jacket with a long shirt underneath to balance out the shortness of the boots so it doesn’t cut off your legs. These booties are my favorite and the easiest to dress up or dress down!

3) Leather leggings can be worn just like regular leggings to edge up an outfit. Do not wear leather leggings with a leather jacket, though! Leather overload is too biker-looking. The exception is with a jacket that has leather sleeves like the McGinn jacket above. That’s classic and edgy. These leggings are super comfortable and chic but won’t break the bank.

4) Red-orange lipstick. It’s fresh. It’s classic. It’s sleek. It’s edgy. It’s girly. Its hot. It goes well on anyone with anything and can be worn in any season, actually. This color is good for when you just don’t feel like wearing a vibrant red, but still want to be fun and colorful. I wore this with an all black outfit and it made my look so much more fresh and on-trend. Wearing a bright color-especially a shade of red-makes your outfit look deliberate and finishes the outfit to make you look so much more put-together. The Topshop lipstick line has the perfect color called Rio Rio.

5) Cargo skinnies can be worn the same as regular skinnies! Olive green is a neutral, and can be worn like a brown…so pretend that you are putting on light brown pants and wear it with anything you would wear brown with. It adds an element to your casual outfit that makes it look like you actually thought about
the look, when in reality you were only putting on brown pants in your head! My favorite look with cargo skinnies is with stiletto booties and a motorcycle jacket. Check out these stiletto booties I found from Forever 21 and this Topshop moto jacket.. I’m seriously obsessed.
