Black Lace

winter fashion trends lace
This one is more of a romantic, girly look because of the textures that I mixed together throughout the outfit. The wool coat, lace top, and suede shoes are all very rich and luxurious winter fabrics that make you feel flirty and expensive. The all black with a splash of burgundy gives off an even more luxurious and expensive feel.

Grunge

grungy fashion outfit
Grungy doesn’t always have to look messy and hipster! I dressed this grungy look up to look more feminine and put-together. By pairing my grungy pieces with a skirt, heels, and some arm candy, I’m not so dressed down, yet still giving off the ’90’s grunge’ vibe.Steal My Style:

Warm & Edgy Winter Textures

winter fashion trends
Well, here I am…playing with textures and colors again! I just can’t get enough of all these rich winter textures because they all go together so well. Here I have leather pants, a cable knit sweater, a wool/felt hat, a calf hair and leather bag, and suede shoes. That’s five textures altogether! Don’t be scared to mix a lot of textures together…it gives your outfit depth! Also, don’t be afraid about mixing colors. Here I mixed this burgundy bag with the blue shoes…both very rich winter colors. To be safe with mixing colors, keep the main items in your outfit neutral, and color up the accessories.Steal My Style:

White isn’t just for spring/summer! It can also be a crisp and warm addition to your winter wardrobe. I currently have an obsession with winter white and want to pair it with ev-er-y-thing. To embody a winter vibe, I stuck to light and soft colors. When wearing white pants in the winter, make sure you’re not pairing them with bright colors or summer prints in order to avoid looking like you’re dressing in the wrong season. Bringing the Turtleneck Back

Welp, here is my classic black and gold again! I’ve been noticing that more fashion houses have been featuring the turtleneck more often, so I decided to accept that the turtleneck is back and incorporated it into this look. I paired it with this tight high-waisted midi pencil skirt to balance out the shortness and chunkiness of the turtleneck, and added the belt to give myself a waist. One thing about midi skirts-people think that they are unflattering on people because they go below the knee but not to the ankle…the truth is actually quite opposite, and if you pair it right can be one of the most flattering things you can wear. Back to the turtleneck…wear them with pencil skirts, A-line mini skirts, or skinny jeans/pants.

Things not to wear with your new turtleneck:

  • A boot-cut mom jean (let’s keep it as far removed from the 90’s as possible)
  • Shorts
  • Capris (we’re not supposed to be wearing these anyway-I wanted to list these just to confirm)
  • Trouser jeans/pants
  • Any type of skirt that is longer than a miniskirt, but not skin tight (i.e. knee-length A-line, maxi, etc.)

Anything else is a ‘go’!

Winter Palette

Soft colors are a winter staple. I love to play around with winter shades as there are so many different types looks that can be put together using these colors. For this one, I edged up the soft colors with some leather, a red lip, and pointed-toe pumps. At the same time, I kept it feminine with the soft textures of the sweater and jacket.

New Year’s Resolutions: 15 Reasons to Dress Your Best Every Day

Picture

We all have New Year’s Resolutions to be better versions of ourselves; which usually includes losing weight, paying debts, quitting bad habits or repairing relationships. But what about how we dress? How we dress affects a lot more in our lives than one may think. When we are put together we look, feel, and act our very best. And isn’t that what a New Year’s Resolution is all about anyway? So here are 15 reasons why I believe that dressing your best should be at the top of your 2014 New Year’s Resolution list.

1) Life is too short to be anything short of extraordinary.
2) When you look your best, you feel your best. When you feel your best, you act your best. When you act your best, you are your best.
3) Fabulous outfits are always a good conversation starter.
4) You never know who you will run into at the grocery store. Your ex? A future business partner? Ryan Gosling?
5) Because it brings your ‘cost per wear’ down.
6) Getting dressed is a chore…but dressing up is fun!
7) Wearing heels increases your balance and coordination.
8) If Carrie Bradshaw wouldn’t go out in public with it on (i.e. sweatpants and UGGs), then you shouldn’t either.
9) Because no one cares if you’re having a horrible hair day if you’re wearing a killer outfit.
10) People’s first impressions of you are how they will perceive you for a long time.
11) Get up. Dress up. Show up. That’s my life motto.
12) Because it makes life a lot more interesting to be creative with your style.
13) You’ll learn your fashion do’s and don’ts a lot faster.
14) Liberate yourself a little in 2014; you express yourself to others by what you wear.
15) Because nothing beats that satisfaction of knowing that you completely nailed a look…and the stares of jealousy that you get from everyone that passes by.

Here is another look from Hot Petunias Boutique! It’s winter right now, so I am trying to make use of all of my winter fabrics and patterns in my closet while I can. I love this top because I have a houndstooth obsession during the winter…I paired it with leather pants to edge it up, and a pop of blue to give it a more wintery vibe. Suede shoes are my favorite to pair with leather bottoms, because I love mixing textures and both of these textures are super wintery.

I always die over boyfriend jeans and I always try to find different ways of wearing them. This one is a super simple and conservative ‘everyday effortless’ look with the cashmere pullover.  I paired this structured coat with the ruggedness of the ripped jeans to mix different styles together. his outfit is part of my collaboration with a fabulous new boutique in North Scottsdale, Hot Petunias. They have amazing pieces for even more amazing prices! Example: these jeans are only $68 and the sweater is only $38…duhhh.
